New Head Prefects Get Emotional After Induction

Jeremiah Narayan shed tears of joy after being inducted as the head boy of Batinikama Primary School in Labasa.

The 13-year-old of Siberia, Labasa said this had made his father proud.

”Dad was once a head boy in this school. This is a joyous moment for us as I have kept the family tradition and achievements,” said Jeremiah who is the only child in his family.

“My father works as a plumber at Fiji Sugar Corporation Labasa Mill and he expects a lot from me.”

Jeremiah said he wanted to become a Police officer because he likes to help people get justice.

The newly inducted head girl, Shivali Devi was also in tears.

She said it was a proud moment for her father who works as a market vendor selling sweets in Labasa.

“I worked hard when I was the deputy head girl last year so that I could hold this leadership role,” Shivali said.

“The secret of successfully maintaining the leadership role for two years is diligence and commitment to remain faithful to God.”

The head prefects said they would work with 45 prefects and 16 teachers from Years One to Eight and help 315 students with discipline and study in school.
