Subrail Park will be hive of activity from July 21-23 will 138 teams taking part in four sports in the first ever Fiji Bitter Service Labasa 7s sports carnival.

Administration officer Jackson Tuvici yesterday confirmed that for the first time football is included in such an event.

“We are hosting a five-a-side futsal (football), for the first time football is included is such a sports carni­val,” Tuvici said.

“It should be exciting with a lot of interest from the youths around this town.

“Every team will be eager to come and participate.

“The usual like volleyball and netball are also part of the pro­gramme,” he said.

Winner of the men’s seven-a-side rugby walks away with $7000 while the runners-up return home $3500 in their purse.

While the organisers are looking at 32 teams for the men’s division, there are eight places for the wom­en’s division and 16 spots for the Un­der-20 (men’s) competition.

This brings a total of 56 teams in the sevens’ competition.

“Entry closes two weeks before July 21, and registration forms are already out. Teams must pay up their registration fees to be includ­ed in the draws,” he said.

Registration fees for sevens’ men is $500, women is $300 and U20is $350.

Winner for women’s division re­ceive $1500 while the runners-up collect $500.

Winner in theU20 gets $2000 while the runners-up get $750.

Registration for volleyball is men’s: $250, women’s: $200. Win­ners for men’s receive $1500 while runners-up get $500; in the women’s division winner gets $1000 while the runners-up get $500.

Registration for netball is women’s $200 and mixed is $150. Netball win­ners walk away with $1500 while the runners-up collect $500; in the mixed competition winners get $700 while the runners-up collect $300.

For football registration fees: $300; winners collect $1000 while the run­ners-up collect $500.
