Jack’s Nadi flanker Ilisoni Galala scored two tries in their 37-15 bonus victory over Rewa in the Skipper Fiji Rugby Championship at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, this afternoon.

The hosts remained unbeaten in their home matches this season. Rewa struggled to connect with their passes and it killed the momentum of their game

What happened: Nadi meant business from the opening whistle as they scored the first try in the 9th minute to flanker Sitiveni Kurivitu who was quick to the breakdown to dot down the ball.

In the 13th minute, No.8 Veniona Vuki extended their lead to 12-0 with Nadi’s second try and it was converted by promising first five eight, Viliame Vibote.

In the 16th minute, Nadi winger Tevita Bole scored their third try and Vibote converted for a handy 19-0 lead.

In the 25th minute Rewa were penalised for infringing in the scrum and Vibote converted the penalty to leave the scores at 22-0.

The visitors took on the Nadi forwards and prop Vauliyasi Vuniyasi slipped through to score their first try 22-5.
In the 30th minute, Galala dashed over to score his first try and Vibote converted as they led 29-5.

The Nadi forwards worked together as a unit when they drove Rewa back and in the 36th minute Galala scored his second try.

Halftime: Nadi 34-5 Rewa.

In the second half the match became scrappy. Rewa flanker Tevita Tuisue picked up a loose ball and dived over to score their second try in the 50th minute. A few minutes later Vuniyasi scored Rewa’s third try make the scores 34-15.

In the 64th minute Nadi’s Timoci Dawai who came off the bench was sin-binned for a high tackle on Rewa’s Apolosi Bulai.

In the 71st minute the visitors were penalised in their own 22-metre line and sub Tevita Mociu made no mistake with his attempt.

Comments: Nadi team manager Epeli Qoro said: “We thank Rewa team for giving us a good game. Rewa did turn the game around with their big forward but our boys were able to keep them at bay.”

Rewa coach Watisoni Ratulevu said: “It was lack of concentration and we cannot afford that. I have accepted the result because our training through the week was not that good. We’re hoping to do better against Suva.”
