Tuiteci Scores Twice As Suva Brush Aside Stallions

The Ram Sami Suva rugby side kept their chances of playing in the playoffs alive after a 21-18 win over Nadroga in their Skipper Fiji Rugby Championship clash at the ANZ Stadium in Suva, this afternoon.

The toast of the win was lock forward Peni Tuiteci who scored two tries.

What happened: Suva started strongly as they scored their first try in the 15th minute through halfback Sefanaia Seviua with fullback Enele Malele landing the conversion for a 7-0 lead. The Stallions replied through the boots of fullback Jack Volavola as they narrowed the deficit 7-3 before they scoring their first try, which was not converted.

Halftime: Suva 7-8 Nadroga.

The Suva forwards came back stronger in the second half with substitutes Mateo Qolisese, Penaia Cakobau and Ananaia Rabonu leading the charge. Tuiteci dived over in the 62nd minute for his first try and Malele converted as they regained the lead 14-8.

In the 65th minute Nadroga’s Jonetani Kunavula touched down their second try with Volavola adding the conversion to make it 15-14.

Volavola further extended the lead to 18-14 with another penalty. From a five-metre scrum Tuiteci broke away to score the winning try.
