Queen Victoria School (QVS), Tailevu, head boy, Tomasi Seru is ready to tackle any challenges that will come his way this year.

Top priority for Tomasi is working together with his deputy prefects to ensure discipline from students when in the school.

The Totoya, Lau native who hails from Ketei Village has maternal links to Tovu Village also on Totoya Island.

His mother Adi Mere Cinavilakeba said Tomasi was the first from Ketei Village to be a head boy at QVS.

“I am so happy and this is the best Mother’s Day gift I have ever received. I thank my son for always maintaining his discipline and always listening to us,” Ms Cinavilakeba said.

“I am a proud mum today. I thank God for his provision in my son’s life.

“Tomasi has a big task ahead of him and it will not be an easy one but I believe in my son’s ability. He was chosen for a reason and I know he can do it.

“When I was told that my son was head boy of the school I shed tears of joy. Our family members are all present today to witness Tomasi being badged. We are all proud of him.”

Tomasi is the second youngest of six siblings.

He never expected to be the head boy of QVS.

“I am honored and privileged to be the head boy this year. My new role comes with a lot of responsibilities, but the teachers believe that I can perform my role to the best of my abilities,” Tomasi said.

“I was brought up by my enthusiastic parents who instilled discipline in me

“That has built me to become a leader. To lead a prominent all boys school does not come by easily and I know that I can lead the students.

“Being a leader does not mean we are above others, we are here to support and encourage students. A good leader inspires everyone to do their best.”

QVS has a roll of more than 800 students.
