Fiji’s Exports Hit $1.85 Billion In 2021

Fiji exported a total of $1.85 billion worth of goods in 2021, an increase of 3.2 per cent from $1.79 billion when compared to 2020.
Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport Faiyaz Koya said this in Parliament on Tuesday night.
“While trade of several types of goods actually decreased, trade and other goods increased marketing, domestic exports have shown an increase of 10 per cent compared to 2020 and seven per cent compared to 2019 which is a pre-pandemic period,” he said.
“In 2020, some of exports showed an increase compared to 2019 and 2020.”
He said the ministry was capitalising on these particular growth areas by deepening its presence in the existing markets and continuously exploring opportunities for newer markets.
“Fiji’s exports are tracking well and are contributing to our economic diversification which is at the forefront of our plans as can be seen with the agro commodities and our economic recovery.” Mr Koya said.
