Rabuka In India

The People’s Alliance (PA) leader Sitiveni Rabuka flew out of the country yesterday for an urgent engagement in India.
Reliable sources claim he also made the tour for a possible medical examination, but PA general secretary Sakiasi Ditoka, did not provide any specifics for the visit.
“Mr Rabuka had flown out to India for an overseas engagement that he had been invited to,” he said.
Mr Ditoka however, could not no give details nor provide information on the nature of the proposed meetings.
He only said that Mr Rabuka was scheduled to return to Fiji next week.
Mr Rabuka was initially booked on a flight to Sydney, Australia.
This was changed and he departed for Brisbane instead and was scheduled to transit Singapore to travel to Delhi.
He is scheduled to return on May 17.
In 2006, Mr Rabuka was an arthritic knee patient at the Welcare Hospital in India.
He had also carried out his postgraduate studies at the Indian Defence Services Staff College in 1979.
After his coup of 1987, he expelled the then Indian High Commissioner to Fiji, T P Sreenivasan and had shut down the Indian High Commissioner in Suva.
