Gounder, a former Nadi representative had led the district to many memorable tournament victories during his tenure as president.

Also during the congress Max Chetty was elected as Nadi FA president while Dr Mousheen Khan is the other vice-president.

Chetty said it’s an honour for him to lead Nadi FA with this new team of administrators for the next four years.

He said that without sponsors it would be virtually impossible to run any organisation.

“I thanks major Sponsors All in One Builders and Raj for their amazing support,” he said.

“I thanked other sponsors and fans for coming in and assisting Nadi FA. I also thanked club delegates for putting their trust in me.”

Chetty outlined Nadi FA’s vision is to take the team to the next level by working closely with stakeholders and collaborating with experienced and proven leaders in the football fraternity.

He shared his thoughts about development with the focus on the Nadi under-16 and under-18 teams that are doing very well.

“Seven of the under-18 players have been training with the senior team.

“In terms of development for women’s football, our team have remained unbeaten so far this season.”

Chetty added that he would promote transparency and accountability for all actions taken by the executives.

He assured fans that Nadi have a well-balanced side with an experienced coaching team of Kamal Swamy, Viliame Toma and Emosi Baleinuku.

They have been working closely with national team physiotherapist Varoon Karan.

During the congress, Chetty highlighted that he would honour former players and long serving officials by giving them lifetime passes for all Digicel Premier League matches at Prince Charles Park. However, this will be confirmed after consultations and approvals from the relevant authorities.

Chetty called on fans to come out in numbers to support Nadi’s campaign in the Digicel Fiji FACT tournament to be played at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.
