Skipper Fiji Rugby Championship points table leaders Naitasiri will go in as underdogs in today’s clash against hosts Nadi at Prince Charles Park.

Speaking to SUNsports, Naitasiri team manager Maciu Koroiqaqa said this is because they are playing against a very good Nadi side who have been unbeaten on their home ground.

“Nadi is a champion side and we look up to them,” Koroiqaqa said.

“Naitasiri will go in as underdogs because we respect our big brothers from Nadi.

“At training the boys understand the importance of lifting their game against Nadi who has been playing consistently this season.

“They have some very good players. Watching their games Nadi players are are fit and sharp especially playing at their home ground.

“They will be hard to beat because their supporters will come out in numbers to cheer them on.”

Koroiqaqa said Naitasiri are preparing well under head coach Ilaitia Tuisese Jnr.

“Nothing has changed for Naitasiri, our preparation has always been the same. Same routine every week and there is nothing new.

“Despite a few setbacks here and there the boys are focused on the job.”

Meanwhile, Nadi are confident of ending Naitasiri’s unbeaten record as team manager Epeli Qoro has urged fans not to miss today’s crucial encounter.

He said Nadi did a good job in their 37-15 win over Rewa last Saturday but would need more from the players if they are to contain Naitasiri.

“They (Naitasir) have good forwards but we want our boys to hold them.

“Playing Naitasiri at home is good preparation for us as we will play them in the second round where the Farebrother Trophy will be at stake.”

In other Skipper matches, Rewa host Suva at Burebasaga ground, Tailevu host Northland at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori while Namosi play Nadroga at Thompson Park in Navua. All the senior men’s matches kick off at 3pm.
