Four veteran boxers have been given the last chance to show whether they still have got what it takes to keep on fighting or else they make way for younger boxers to participate.

This was the gist of South Pacific Boxing Promotions (SPBP) promoter Freddy Chand’s message while disclosing to SUNsports, this morning, of his June 11 programme.

Chand said the programme would be staged at the American International School hall at the Nadi back road (opposite the Land Transport Authority (LTA) office).

“I’ve included four veteran boxers who had done the country proud during their time,” Chand said.

“This is the fight these veterans have to prove themselves or else it will be their farewell fight. If they lose they have to retire and make way for young boxers to fight.”

In the 60 kilogramme fight, former Fijian lightweight champion, Junior Farzan ‘The Razor’ Ali takes on Gabriel Ravalawa of Naitasiri in a six-round bout while in the 73kg bout former Fijian middleweight champion Abhay Chand faces stylish Robin Hazelman of Nadi.

In the 79kg category former Fijian super middleweight champion Opeti Tagi of Serea, Naitasiri fights hard hitting Apisai Naciqa of Ra.

For the vacant Fijian Super Fly (52kg) title fight, journeyman Ritesh Goundar of Seaside Boxing Club, Nadi, takes on Navosa strongman Junior Binnu Singh.

Chand said the main bout would be an eight round fight between Fijian cruiserweight champion, Alifereti Kauyaca, who faces Sikeli Senidoko.

According to Box Rec, Kauyaca has been unbeaten in six professional fights. He has already beaten top boxers like Eroni Ligaloa and the Naliva brothers- Savenaca and Filimoni Jnr.

Chand said the programme starts at 3pm while the official weigh-in is on Friday, June 10, at Nair’s Dais, Nadi, at 2pm.
