Singapore Netters Coming

The Fijian Under-21 netball team will play a match against Singapore at the end of the month. The Singapore national netball team will play five matches in Fiji as their build-up for the Asian Netball World Cup Qualifiers, which they will host from September 4-11.
This was revealed to SUNsports on friday by Pearls head coach Unaisi Rokoura.
She said Singapore would play three games against the Pearls, one against the Fijian U21 and a game against the Fijian Men’s team.
The Fijian U21 side began their weekly combined training last Saturday at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.
“This is a build-up for Singapore, the beginning of our player’s pathway,” Rokoura said.
“They are a good bunch of young girls, they definitely need quality coaching and that’s why we are here.”
The extended training squad weekly training ends of May 28 with the Singapore side arriving the next day.
“One major area is getting these players acclimatise to the high performance environment and most of these players have the potential to join the Fijian Pearls.
“This opportunity has given them the chance to get into this environment.
“I’m here as the head coach of the Fijian Pearls taking them for training. They are going all out and they know how to get there, this is the kind of training they used to be doing.
“I’m impressed with what I have seen in the first session.”
Meanwhile, the Oceania Netball World Cup Qualifiers (ONWCQ) will be held here from July 16-23.
