Shooter Maria Rusivakula Back In Extended Squad

Former Fijian Pearls shooter Maria Lutua-Rusivakula is a training partner with the national extended squad.

This was confirmed by Pearls head coach Unaisi Rokoura.

Rusivakula and under-21 squad goalkeeper Reama Verekauta are two players who will be joining the 16-member squad preparing for their three games against Singapore next week in Suva.

Rusivakula who resides in the United Kingdom has been in the country since early this year.

The three matches will see Singapore playing against the Fijian Pearls, Fijian U21 and a game against the Fijian Men’s team.

“We’re grateful to have the men’s team involvement and inclusion in the high performance environment,” Rokoura said.

“Maria is in a good form and we’re glad that she is here, she played a little bit of rugby and netball too while she was in the UK.

The Singaporeans are playing in Fiji as part of their build-up to the Asian Netball World Cup Qualifiers, which they will host from September 4-11.

Rokoura will name her Pearls and under-21 sides on May 28 while the men’s team will be named after their tournament this weekend.

The Fiji Netball Men’s Championship will see eight teams competing at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

Meanwhile, the Oceania Netball World Cup Qualifiers (ONWCQ) will be held here from July 16-23.
