Thumbs Up For Win, Still Room For Improvement

Yasawa continued their sterling performance with a 23-15 win over Nadi in the ANZ Marama Championship clash at Ratu Navula College ground in Nadi, this afternoon.
What happened: In the 12th minute Salote Vuniwaqa kicked over a penalty as Yasawa led 3-0.
In a space to eight minutes Nadi scored two tries to Rusila Koronawa and Ilisapeci Delaiwali with the conversions missing for a 10-3 lead.
In 37th minute Yasawa extended their lead to 13-10 from a penalty
At the stroke of half time, Nadi centre Merewarita Nai scored a try with the conversion going over.
Halftime: Nadi 10-13 Yasawa.
In the second spell, Nadi upped the tempo that allowed prop Aseri Qalo to score a try as they led 15-13.
Yawasa bounced back with two unconverted tries scored by No.8 Seruwaia Tawa and Sainimili Lomata.
Comments: Yasawa coach Taione Ratu said: “The win was a bonus for us. Thumbs up to the team and fan who came today. We could have scored a lot of tries but we have been carried away.
“There was a lot of wrong decisions but we’ll go back and improve on that.”
Nadi women’s coach, Kamanieli Tuiwasa said: “Despite the loss, we’ve improved. Before we struggled to finish the game but not now.”

Seniors: Namosi 33-21 Tailevu, Yasawa 23-15 Nadi, Naitasiri 15-12 Lautoka.
