Meet Valentine Qalowaqa.

The 22-year-old is the first female to direct the mid-day news for Fiji Television.

She was praised by the Women In Media, an initiative of the Fijian Media Association (FMA) for taking on the challenge.

Through her job as a camera-woman, she hopes to show the beauty of Fiji and what our country has to offer.

Not only will she stop here, she has set herself a goal – to direct the 6pm news bulletin.

The Women In Media acknowledged young women who were leading newsrooms and studios in the media industry.
