Suva’s Target

Ram’s Cleaning Services/ All Freight Logistics Suva hope to lift its first back-to-back Digicel FIJI FACT title this year.
In 2020, Suva beat Nadi 2-1 at Labasa’a Subrail Park, recording its third FACT title.
The capital city side became the first team outside of Vanua Levu to claim victory at Subrail Park.
The champion side still has a number of players from that winning team, with the likes of Shahil Dave, Remueru Takiate, Simione Nabenu, Ravinesh Karan Singh, Meli Codro, Joeli Ranitu and Filipe Baravilala.
Despite losing goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara to Lautoka, Suva has secured the services of former Labasa goalie Akuila Mateisuva.
The Babs Khan-coached side hope to make history, defending their title, says president Ritesh Pratap.
“It’s always a dream for every team to retain their title and it’s the same for Suva FC,” he said.
“Chances are there for Suva FC to retain the title. If you look at history, Suva FC hasn’t won back-to-back the Fiji FACT trophy: we want to do it this time.
“We want to be the ones that will do it for Suva. Also we want to win this title for the whole Suva FC family.”
Suva have started their Fiji FACT campaign by winning their first match 1-0 against RC Manubhai Ba last Sunday at Suva’s ANZ Stadium. They take on Nasinu at 3pm today at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.
“Nasinu is always a different side come tournaments. They have beaten us in pool plays before and we are not taking them lightly,” Pratap said.
“They are a very young side and with new executives coming in they will be a force to reckon with. Suva will treat all the teams equally and will play all games as final.”
Meanwhile, the continuation of the 2022 Digicel Fiji FACT second round of pool matches start today at Lawaqa Park; with Glamada Investments Rewa taking on Koromakawa Rentals and Tours Navua at 1pm.
Suva and Nasinu play at 3pm; followed by Cambridge Farms Nadroga playing against Security Systems Management Inc Tailevu Naitasiri at 5pm.
The All in One Builders Nadi and Baker’s Fresh Lautoka match kicks off at 7pm.
