Thumbs Up For Fijian Physicality

While the Chiefs will play to win to secure their top four spot, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will be out to play for their home crowd.

Head coach Mick Byrne says that while this will be one of the toughest matches for the Fijian Drua, they will play their best.

“They (Fijian Drua) are pretty confident. It’s going to be a difficult game for the Chiefs to turn up and play in the heat,” Bryne said.

“Playing for top four spot is going to motivate the Chiefs; we’re playing for pride with our home crowd behind us,” he said.

“Every team we have played this year from All Blacks and Wallabies come up to us after the game and say, the physicality that we’re bringing into every match is as good as any team in the competition.

“So it’s really pleasing that they’re threatened by the way we play, it’s probably our ability to do retain that for 80 minutes is that we need to work on.”

Selection

Winger Vinaya Habosi and Kitione Taliga will be available for selection this week after missing out in last week’s clash against Crusaders due to a viral infection.

“It’s not great to have flu and you’re trying to train as well so it’s good to see Habosi and Kiti (Taliga) back at training, so we’ll just have to monitor them,” he said.

Centre Apisalome Vota and Frank Lomani are back at training. Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta is still recovering from an injury.

“We have to look after our players and health is number one,” Byrne added.

The Drua will host the Chiefs at 3pm on Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
