Sowakula’s Match Dream Comes True

Chiefs loose forward Pita Gus Sowakula arrived at Nadi International Airport yesterday, eager to play against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua at Churchill Park, Lautoka, tomorrow.
He was greeted by his mother, Anaseini Sowakula, his aunty Lavenia Adikovea, the woman who adopted him, and grandmother, Mere Varo.
Adikovea said it was also a wish come true for Sowakula because he always wanted to play against the Fijian Drua in Lautoka.
“When we heard the news that the Chiefs was coming to Fiji, we immediately called him,” she said.
“He was excited: especially playing at his birth place in Lautoka.”
The 27-year-old was adopted by his uncle (his mother’s brother, Ropate Robanakadavu and wife).
Sowakula hails from Bucalevu, in Cakaudrove.
“We will cheer for the Chiefs because we always support Pita’s dream. We are proud of him,” she said.
Narawa for Flying Fijians
Chiefs winger Emoni Narawa said he would take on the offer to play for the Flying Fijians, if he was given the opportunity.
The 24-year-old also plays well at fullback.
He joined the Chiefs after playing for the Blues in Super Rugby
“I’m waiting for that opportunity. I have spoken with the coaches and they will decide later,” he said.
Narawa attended Hamilton Boys High on a scholarship before heading to Bay of Plenty.
On Saturday, he faces the Fijian Drua speed merchant, Vinaya ‘Bossman’ Habosi.
The showdown at 3pm is expected to be a spectacle.
