Two More Years

It’s confirmed!
The Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua will play in the Super W competition for the next two years.
This was confirmed to SUNsports by Fijiana Drua’s assistant coach, Mike Legge.
He said the team would recruit some new players because the Fijiana Drua were the defending Super W champions.
“We are obviously been confirmed for the next two years,” he said.
“Our priority now is the world cup but out of the world cup squad there will be a base for girls that will be preparing for Super W.”
Legge said the focus would be on local-based players coming out of the ANZ Marama Championship and the Royal Tea Ranadi Cup.
“This year our focus is on the world cup. Next year our main focus is on local-based players. After their performances from the Super W, the girls have attracted NRL (National Rugby League) clubs who wanted to sign them.”
Legge said some clubs from Australia and the United Kingdom (UK) have declared their interest to sign up the players.
“At least half of our girls have showed their interest in playing offshore. There’s a lot of talented players in the country, we watched Nadroga take on Suva and we have selected four girls from Nadroga to camp with us. The four girls have fitted well into the team.”
Legge said now the local-based women players have a pathway, which was not there before.
“Now with the Super W and our girls playing in the World 7s Series there are more opportunities for them now.”
