Health Officials Ride On Back Of Trailer To Reach Rural Communities

Not all heroes and heroines wear capes.

The actions of our very own health officials, of the Navosa Hospital resorted to travelling on the trail of a tractor to conduct a medical outreach in Bemana village, within the province of Navosa recently.

Due to the recent adverse weather conditions that was experienced in the Navosa Highlands the team could not cross the river adjacent to the village.

Not to be discouraged by the increasing level of the Bemana River the team hopped Onto the trailer of the village tractor to reach villagers and provide them with much needed medical services and supplies.

Nadroga Navosa sub-divisional medical officer Dr Amos Zibran said: “Our transport couldn’t cross the river due to the water level thus the  only available option was the tractor.

“The tractor has quite a colorful history as it also transported an expectant mother during the height of a recent adverse weather in the village to the nearest nursing station at Tuvu.

“Since the tractor is quite elevated compared to the vehicle we were using it was the perfect vehicle to transport the personnel across the river.

“This is the dedication that we are willing to put in and I know there are many untold stories of sacrifices that medical workers put in across the country to provide service for the people of Fiji.”
