Ram Sami and Sons (Fiji) have renewed their five year sponsorship with Nasinu Rugby Union yesterday.

The deal was initially penned in 2020.

The Nasinu men’s and women’s rugby teams are sponsored by Ram Sami in the Vodafone Fiji Rugby Vanua Championship and Royal Tea Ranadi Cup respectively.

The union is allocated $40,000 each year.

NRU vice-president Mosese Yavalanavanua said the sponsorship would help the union to develop more players and set-up other programmes.

“It means a big boost for both the women’s and men’s competitions especially in the Vanua and Royal Tea Ranadi competition,” he said.

“It also funds our normal rugby competitions, so we are very fortunate that we are able to renew our contract with Ram Sami for the next five years.

“Obviously we want to develop more youths in Nasinu. We are also running some programmes, which is parallel to rugby like our wellness programme and clean-up campaigns.”

The Nasinu men’s team is in the Central Pool with Naitasiri Bulls, Ovalau, and Serua while the women’s team is in the same pool as Northland, Ovalau and Northern Bulls.

“We are hoping to qualify for the top four to give us a chance to be promoted to the Skipper Cup,” Yavalavanua said.

“The renewal of our contract will inject and lift the morale and hopefully we achieve our target at the end of the year.”

Ram Sami business development manager Abdul Shameer said: “Ram Sami and Sons has been partnering with Nasinu Rugby for quite a few years now and this partnership was officially announced in 2020. Our social obligation is to give back to the community, which is one way we are committed to Nasinu Rugby. We believe we will have a stronger relationship now going forward.”
