Heads Work On Improving Discipline

Saint Thomas High School Head boy, Vilimone Vuiwakaya, says with his new role, he is not only aiming to improve the discipline level of the students, but to support them academically.
The 18-year-old said the fundamental aspect of all students was to study and work toward their dream job an area he aimed to assist them with.
Vuiwakaya, who hails from Koro in the Lomaiviti Group, was badged as the school’s head boy during the prefects’ induction ceremony last Friday.
Ana Dari is the school’s head girl.
A very outspoken student, Vuiwakaya said the school’s discipline level was a topic amongst many groups amd this year he would work to prove them wrong.
“We want to change the discipline level of the school because many in the West look at us as being one of the most indisciplined schools, and we want to change that mindset,” he said.
“This can also help them to one day follow our footsteps and become prefects.
“We also want to help them academically to better achieve their goals.”
The youngest child of eight siblings aspires to be involved in the field of Information Technology.
Dari, who is from Malaita in the Solomon Islands, said being the leader of the school would not be an easy task.
She will work her way to become a pilot.
“I want to be a pilot when I am older, I have always been amazed by aircrafts,” she said.
The school has 650 students and 40 teachers.
