Murder Accused Has Case Moved To High Court

The case of Samuel Naicker, who is charged with one count of murder and two counts of theft, has been transferred to the High Court in Suva.
Naicker appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza at the Magistrate Court in Nasinu yesterday.
Police prosecutor Inspector Joshua Shaw sought the matter to be transferred to the High Court in Suva because it was an indictable offence and to place the accused in remand.
Magistrate Hamza transferred the matter and remanded the accused in custody.
It is alleged that on May 28, 2022 at Nasinu, Naicker intended to cause the death of Divshek Chand by strangling his neck with a black tracksuit lace.
It is also alleged that on May 28, 2022 at Nasinu the accused dishonestly appropriated one Samsung AO2s valued at $299 and $150 cash money, wallet valued $35, all the value total $414, the property of Divshek Chand with the intend to permanently deprive the said Chand of the property thereof.
It also is alleged that on May 28, 2022 at Nasinu, the accused dishonestly appropriated $400 cash money the property of Sanjeet Narayan with intent to permanently deprive the said Narayan of the property thereof.
The case has been adjourned to June 10.
