Pearls Need Consistency: Rokoura

Fijian Pearls head coach Unaisi Rokoura is disappointed with the Pearls Selection performance against Singapore despite their two wins.
The Singapore national team arrived last week to play five training matches against the three national sides; Pearls Selection, men’s and under-21.
The Pearls selection won its first game on Monday night, 50-47, and 48-43 on Wednesday night.
Singapore dominated in the first three quarters leading 13 -12 in the first, 28 -24 in the second and 37-35 in the third.
The Pearls caught up in the last quarter and took the lead until the final whistle.
“For us we were a bit disappointed that it took us three quarters to realize what we could have done,” she said.
“It’s a lesson learnt to our players that they need to understand it’s about consistency.
“For any international match or training game such as this, consistency is the key. We have to be able to have a strong start and maintain that.
“We are using these training matches to identify our squad for the Oceania qualifiers next month.
“We shouldn’t be playing catch-up netball, for us to play three quarters of catch – that’s a big concern for us.”
Singapore will played its final match against the Pearls last night after this edition went to press and will take on the Fiji under -21 today at 6pm at the FMF Gymnasium.
Meanwhile, the Oceania qualifiers will be hosted by Netball Fiji at the Vodafone Arena on July 16 to 23.
