The Turuva Lumelume captained – Jack’s Nadi rugby side yesterday received a major sponsorship boost from its new Vuvale partner, All In One Restaurant Cakes and Fastfood.

Nadi, the holders of the coveted INKK Fiji Rugby Farebrother-Trophy will host challengers Ram Sami Suva at Prince Charles Park, this Saturday.

Company general manager Navneeda Gounder handed over the $10, 000 cheque to Nadi Rugby Union president Mataiasi Nabau in Nadi, yesterday.

Gounder said the company has faith in Nadi Rugby.

“I thank the NRU officials for taking us on board in their quest. I was with Nadi FA (as president). It’s very hard to get sponsorship,” he said.

He added that a talk with their director Sulendra Raju on Sunday night made it happen.

“It is a small token at the moment, but definitely it is coming in a big way on Friday, a bigger figure as the NRU president is aware of what we are giving out,” Gounder said.

“It is our aim and president’s aim to get everything as our name, All in One restaurant and cafe. We are helping a lot in football, and at the same time want to get Nadi in a good financial position so they can perform better and defend the trophy.”

Nabau thanked the company director Raju and Gounder for stepping in at the right time when finance is needed the most.

“The timing was just right as running a union is not easy, financially,” he said.

“Last week, we took five teams on Thursday and returned on Sunday with nothing in our accounts. It is not easy to run a union and we count ourselves lucky.”

The Jets wrestled the silverware from Naitasiri 14-12 at the Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

Ground availability

Nabau confirmed that NRU is having talks with the organisers of the Fiji Muslim Sports on the availability of Prince Charles Park, Nadi, on Saturday.

The park has been booked to host the Digicel Fiji Muslim Sports IDC from Thursday to Friday.

“We are working with Fiji Muslim Sports executives to allow us to use the ground for this important clash. We want to secure our home ground and defend the title against Suva,” he said.

The team will carry on their preparation as there’s no serious injuries.

“We got to face Suva as this will prove to everybody the win over Naitasiri was not a fluke. We are ready.”

The senior men’s clash kicks off at 3pm.
