Critics Fail To Deter Seta

Former All Blacks centre Seta Tamanivalu is grateful to the Fiji Rugby Union for including him in the 34-member Flying Fijians squad for the Pacific Nations Cup from July 2-16.
Tamanivalu, who also played for Chiefs and the Crusaders in Super Rugby, is in the country with his partner, Brittany Coates, and their two children. The couple are going to be traditionally married in Vuda on Saturday.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Tamanivalu said his dream to don the white jersey was now fulfilled.
He will be the first Fijian to do that under the new eligibility rules set by World Rugby.
“It’s a privilege and honour to be named in the team. It’s a big thing even though some people may criticise me,” he said.
His dad Seta Tamanivalu (Snr) said he was grateful to see his son play for Fiji.
“This is great news and it has been our dream since he left to join Lelean Memorial School. It changed while in New Zealand but this is his opportunity. I had always supported him in his rugby career,” said Tamanivalu (Snr) who played for Namoli and Lautoka in the 1990s as a flanker.
Tamanivalu played five Test matches for the All Blacks from 2016 to 2017.
Meanwhile, his wedding to Brittany, a former Fijiana rugby 7s rep will be a two–segment wedding reception at the Hilton Resort on Friday and then followed by a traditional ceremony in Vuda on Saturday. The couple was legally married in France and they have two children.
