Three Records Broken On Day One Of Nadi Zone Meet

Three records were broken on Day One of the Nadi zone meet at Churchill Park, Lautoka, yesterday.
They were; sub junior girl’s shot put shot put, Intermediate Boys 1500 metres and Junior Girls 1500 metres.
- Sub junior gilrs shot put: Miliakere Naikaci of Korovuto College set a new throw distance of 10.31m which was set by Adi Vasita of Sabeto College 9.84m record in 2015.
- Intermediate boys 1500 metres: Nadi Sangam College’s Simione Qore’s record of 4.43 minutes in 2019 was broken by Vishant Reddy of Korovuto College and Aron Naicker of Swami Vivekananda College. The duo set a new time of 4.25.47 and of 4.40.75 respectively.
- Junior Girls 1500 metres: Magodro Secondary School’s Vani Masidoi time of 5.58.94 in 2021 was broken by Mulomulo Secondary School’s Vasemaca Lauwai.

Meet president Josaia Gonekalou said eleven schools and approximately 500 athletes participated in the first day of the zone.“Since most of the school’s their preparation was in haste, but still they produced the results and I believe they achieved their targets for day one.”
He said the standout athlete for Day One was Reddy who was also named in the national football under-19 side.
Reddy plays for the Nadi football team.
“He ran in the 1500m plus 800m and came first in both. So with the level of fitness we believe he can achieve good results in the Coca Cola games.”
Meanwhile, Mulomulo Secondary School’s Nemani Kurucake won the senior boys 100 metres blue ribbon event clocking a time of 10.35s.
