Rewa Targets OFC Champions League Series

The Rewa football team has put their poor performance at the Digicel Fiji FACT tournament behind them.
The Marika Rodu-coached side has gone into camp at the Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa, Suva, on Wednesday to prepare for the OFC Champions League’s home and away series against Lautoka, next weekend.
The first match is set for Friday, June 17, when Lautoka hosts Rewa at Churchill Park at 7pm.
The second match will be hosted by Rewa at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori, on Sunday, June 19, at 3pm. The entry fee is $5 flat and children Under-12 is free.
Meanwhile, Fiji Football Association competitions manager Amitesh Pal said the Digicel Premier League competition is on a two-week break.
“Rewa and Lautoka will be contesting for a spot in this year’s OFC Champions League in two legs home away series so we are giving them time to prepare well and concentrate in the play-offs,” said Pal
“Lautoka and Rewa will battle in the OFC Champions League national playoffs next weekend. The winner secures its qualification to the finals tournament.”
Pal said the winner of the national playoffs will meet the victors from New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Tahiti and New Zealand’s Auckland City FC in the finals tournament.
The winning team in the finals tournament will represent the region to the FIFA Club World Cup.
“At the same time, other teams will have time to recover well and prepare for the second round of the Digicel Premier League,” he added.
