Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) Eels Under-17 rugby league team is the new Vodafone South Eastern Zone champions.

The side defeated Marist Brothers High School (MBHS) Storm 24-20 at the Marcellin Primary School grounds in Vatuwaqa, Suva, today.

RKS U17 captain Seremaia Tuiqamea said, they (players) believed in each other.

“It was a tough final and we played for each other,” he said.

“Hats off to the boys for staying in the fight and for Marist for giving us a hard game.

“Our goal was to come and win so I want to thank the Lord for this win.

“Special thanks to our parents for their endless support and prayers.”

Tuiqamea said they have shifted their focus to the nationals.

“We know it’s not going to be easy, we will have to go back and improve on some areas. Marist came well prepared and provided a tough match. We had to hang in there and score tries early in the second half to remain in the lead.”

Eparama Kikau of Marist Storm was named the Best Player of the final.

For the 3rd/4th playoff, Nasinu Secondary School Panthers went down to Queen Victoria School Knights 20-12
