Why Vunivalu? Rennie Explains

In a shock move, Australian Wallabies head coach Dave Rennie, has included Fijian-born Queensland Reds flyer, Suliasi Vunivalu, in his 34-member squad for the July Test matches against England.
This was after Vunivalu missed a good part of the Super Rugby Pacific competition due to injury and also he is now off contract with the Reds.
However, during the team announcement yesterday Rennie hinted that Vunivalu, a former NRL star winger, was close to his Test debut.
“We’ve picked him (Vunivalu) because of his massive potential and we think he can accelerate development inside the camp,” Rennie said.
“He’s had his troubles with injury- we’ve seen glimpses of real quality – we are just keen to get our hands on him.”
The former Chiefs coach said he was ‘confident’ the off-contract winger would remain in Australian rugby beyond this season. Vunivalu was among the four Fijian players in the Wallabies squad.
Rennie used the Giteau Law to bring in Japan-based Marika Koroibete, Samu Kerevi along with Quade Cooper.
The other Fijian member is Brumbies No.8 Rob Valetini who was one of the starts in their 20-19 loss to Blues in the Super Rugby semifinal at Eden Park, Auckland, on Saturday night.
