Top favourite Brad Burns has been penciled to win the Vuksich & Burich sponsored PGA Legends Tour 2022.

Burns, an Australian pro, has been a dominant force on Australia’s Legends Tour.

He is among the 130 golfers who will battle for the AU$50, 000 (FJ$76, 731) in prize-money during the three rounds of golf, which got underway at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course yesterday.

Burns, who has been playing golf for a living for over 50 years, won the same event back to back (2017–2018).

During the Sheraton Classic 2022 last week, he finished sixth overall and carded 278 after four rounds.

Burns said he is ready for another round of competition this week.

“We’ve met so many nice people over the years since I’ve been here and weren’t getting any worse,” he said.

“I’ll tell you because you people make this tournament. Everyone, I really hope had a fantastic time.

“Sheraton puts on a fantastic event here and it’s made everyone happy. Kudos goes to you and your people who run the event here.”

“Hopefully we’ll be back next year if I don’t die,” he said.

Some other top players include, Peter Seniors, Glenn Joyner, Andre Stotlz, Guy Wall with locals Krishna Singh and Mehmood Buksh.

Natadola Bay Championship Golf operations manager Avinesh Datt said his team is glad to host the event once again. .

“This is the biggest tournament of the year at Natadola and the course looks awesome to host this event once again.”

Pacific Golf Management director Richard Ellis said the golfers are looking forward to another exciting golf tournament after a fantastic Sheraton Classics 2022.

“The weather has been great. The course is fantastic after three years of no golf, the overseas players are here and everyone is having a good time,” he said.

Meanwhile, the rounds will be hosted at the Denarau Championship Golf Course on Wednesday and Thursday.
