Rodu Banks On Local Players

Rewa will focus on consistency, says head coach Marika Rodu.
The Delta Tigers take on Lautoka in a home and away OFC Champions League series.
The first game will be hosted by the Blues at 7pm on Friday at Churchill Park while the second match will be played on Sunday at 3pm at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.
Rodu indicated that Rewa is not getting players from the region to play in the two matches.
“What matters for us is to maintain the consistency, top form within the players and at the same keep to the motivation level,” he said.
“If we keep listening right, I think we will have the edge, despite Lautoka having some influence from players outside Fiji.”
The side has been preparing well since it exited from the group rounds of the Digicel Fiji FACT last month.
They have been in camp since last week.
“No regional players, we will continue with the same players that we have. I think it’s only fair to give them the opportunity because they really stepped up this year,” Rodu said.
“Lautoka is being controlled by senior players like Zibraaz Sahib, Kolinio Sivoki, Antonio Tuivuna and Sairusi Nalaubu, who have been organising things.
“Their team and structure is purely centered by these four players, so we have studied their strength and weakness and have some ideas on how we can strengthen our defence in both games.”
Meanwhile, the winner will meet clubs from New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Tahiti and New Zealand’s Auckland City FC in the finals tournament. The winner of the OFC Champions League will represent the region to the FIFA Club World Cup.
