Xavier College Leads Day One

Xavier College is leading Day One of the 2022 Ba Zone.
They finished off the day with a total of 38 medals for the girls and boys division at the Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday.
Blue ribbon winner, Josateki Valebaca, said he knew the blue ribbon event would be his at this year’s Ba Zone.
The 18-year-old student of Ba Methodist High School was content to have his mother and sisters be present to witness his success. He ran a time of 10.36s.
“We had been training for close to five weeks and I believe it was through hard work and training that I won today’s main event,” he said.
He is also eyeing to be the blue ribbon winner at this year’s Coca Cola Games.
Ba Secondary Schools Athletics Association president, Hussain Shah said at this year’s Ba Zone there was an expectation of different winners from all divisions.
Mr Shah said it was a tough competition this year.
“Like those who thought they would maintain second and third place are not there and there are a lot of expectations that have interchanged,” he said.
There are a total of nine schools that are part of this year’s zone having 764 athletes.
Meanwhile, a total of four records were also broken on day one of the Ba Zone. The times were recorded manually.
