Xavier College Dominates Ba Zone

Xavier College won the overall titles for the girls and boys divisions at the Ba Zone yesterday, which was held at the Churchill Park scooping 39 gold, 31 silver and 26 bronze medals.
Team manager Aseri Tokaseru Misimisi said the limited preparation time was a wake up call for the school’s athletes.
“After two years of no Coca-Cola Games, most of my athletes had lost hope but we tried our best and Im thankful to all the schools that have given us the competition this year,” she said.
“We will begin preparation for the cokes straight after this, most likely by Monday and this time we will really double up and we hope that our administration would be more supportive this time.”
She said the biggest areas in need of improvement before the Coca-Cola Games in Suva were the students’ commitment and discipline.
“If they improve on their discipline and they improve on their commitment, for sure we can get something back in return but from yesterday I believe about four records were broken,” she said.
“My jumps pulled up the results this year and my tracks not all but I believe the inters and seniors maintained and they tried to increase the medal tally this year.
“I was surprised by one Penisoni Tuirau Inter boys triple jump, it was broken by Pita Kuricuva and then he broke the record again on the same day so we hope he would maintain it and do much better in the Cokes.”
