Nadroga to challenge Jack’s Nadi next Saturday for the Farebrother Trophy

The Nadroga rugby team has sent a strong message ahead of their INKK Fiji Rugby Farebrother Trophy challenge against Jack’s Nadi, next Saturday.

The Stallions defeated Naitasiri 30-22 at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, today, in their Skipper Fiji Rugby Championship clash.

Veteran Nadroga No.8 Eremasi Radrodro said the win was a timely one.
“We are happy with the win and hats off to our young boys,” he said.

“We will look at our selection for the challenge against Nadi next week. There’s a lot of areas we need to work on and come next week we will work on them.”

What happened: Nadroga scored the first try through hooker Ratunaisa Navuma in the 4th minute with Jack Volavola landing the conversion 7-0.

A silky backline move by Nadroga in the 22nd minute saw Voalvola create the overlap for winger Taniela Rakuro to score their second try.

Naitasiri replied with a try to prop Asiveli Rokoua in the 26th minute and Kini Douglas converted as they narrowed the deficit to 12-7. Douglas was spot on with a penalty attempt in the 31st minute as they trailed 12-10.
Nadroga extended their lead through a try to lock Josaia Cokaibusa and Volavola’s conversion gave them a handy 19-10.

Halftime: Nadroga 19-10 Naitasiri.

The second half started with both teams exchanging kicks for territory.
Nadroga scored another through first five eight Peni Kadralevu to further their lead 24-10.

Naitasiri scored a try through Tomasi Naiduki in the 48th minute as they edged closer 24-15.
Volavola kicked over a penalty as they led 27-15 in the 59th minute.

Naitasiri scored another try to Misi Uluimoala with Etonia Rokotuisawa’s conversion going over. Volavola kicked over a 50-metre penalty goal to increase their lead to 30-22.
