Car enthusiasts in Labasa were treated to a rare car show on Friday to showcase their customised car preparation skills and modified engine mechanics.

The car show was organised by a local club, Naughty Riders Car Club, at Subrail Park in Labasa.

Club president, Mohammad Raehaan Riaz, thanked major sponsor, HB Tech, for supporting the club in arranging trophies and sound system testers.

Competitions included the best-lowered car, best sound system, best exhaust, best body kit, best entertainment setup and best display with off-road vans and motorbikes were also given an opportunity to participate.

“All our 15 members will participate for some, it will be the first-ever experience of showcasing their hidden car modifying talent,” he said.

The club which formed this year is one of the few only active car clubs in Labasa at the moment.

“From my understanding, the last car show was held three to four years ago and this will be the first local club from Labasa organising a show on their home turf in a long time,” he said.

He said the Exclusives car show team from Viti Levu one of the best in the country, would also participate in the car show.

“Other enthusiasts from Nadi will also participate,” he said.

“We expect to see between 16 cars on display from them which will really boost the interest and competition among participants.”

Future events

The club plans to host another car show on a large scale in December, this year.

The money generated from the entry payments would be directed to community-driven projects around Labasa where the poor families would be provided groceries and other basic necessities.
