Driver Recalls Accident That Lands 5 People In Hospital

The failure of a rental car to stop when approaching the junction of Namena Road in Nabua has left a driver traumatised.
Munesh Nadan was on a night shift staff pickup run for a prominent call centre in Nasinu when the rental car, believed to be overspeeding, hit the minibus.
The accident occurred after 10pm on Tuesday.
“As I approached the junction, I saw the car was speeding down the hill, so I decided to slow down to give way, but it was too late,” he recalled.
“The car hit our vehicle and all I remember was that my head hit the side of the minibus so hard and my leg went over the dashboard.”
Mr Nadan claims the collision was caused by the car driver’s recklessness.
“I could have died that night,” he adds.
“The car hit us and dragged us across to the opposite lane into the VT Solutions building. Fortunately, the cement gate of the building stopped our momentum.”
He said there were eight passengers including him in the minibus. There were two people in the rental car when the accident occurred.
Three people in the minibus had minor injuries while his was serious.
He was suffering from a headache and a swollen left leg.
“I have never come across such an accident in my 22-year driving career,” he said.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro, confirmed the accident and said five people including Mr Nadan were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
