Residents Arm Themselves In Case Of Another Attack

Residents of Raiwai in Suva have armed themselves in preparation of being attacked again.
They have acquired knives, pinch bars and whatever they can get a hold of to protect themselves after they were allegedly attacked by youths from Mead Road in Nabua on Sunday morning.
A victim’s wife who asked not to be named, said, “I am afraid to go out of my home.”
Her husband is now admitted in Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH) after he was allegedly punched and struck with a cane knife during the brawl.
“The intruders kept moving up and I saw the boys from here trying to stop them inorder to keep the women and children safe.”
Another tenant who has been living in Raiwai for the past nine years said: “We are not taking any chances. We are taking up arms in case we get attacked again. People have acquired knives and other weapons.
PRB General Manager, Timoci Naleba, said: “We are doing our own investigation to establish what really happened on that day. Police are also doing their investigation” Mr Naleba said.
He mentioned that anyone found breaching the tenancy agreement will be asked to vacate immediately.
