Sadrugu For Bati Debut, Api Out

Taniela Sadrugu is going to make his debut for the Vodafone Fijian Bati.
The 23-year-old Wailevu, Macuata native has been named in the 20- men Bati side when they face the Papua New Guinea Kumuls in Saturday’s Pacific Test clash.
Sadrugu joined North Queensland Cowboys in November, last year under their train and replacement contract. He is now in the extended Fiji Bati squad for the Rugby League World Cup.
He has been settling well in the Bati’s camp at the Saint Mary’s in Sydney, Australia.
Speaking to SUNsports he said the opportunity is great.
“This is what it’s all about, making it to the Fiji Bati squad and most importantly the Rugby League World Cup,” the former Ratu Kadavulevu School student said.
“This a dream come true and a good achievement for me personally.
“I get to play for my family and the people of Fiji.
“My goal was making it to the NRL the other one is making it for the Bati.
“Being here is special for me because I get to meet some of the best in the sport.
“It’s not only meeting up but also learning new things from them.
“My goal was to make it first to the final 20-member squad to get my Bati debut before my first Rugby League World Cup in England.
“It has been exciting really; the atmosphere and the environment of the Bati is world class.”
Sadrugu indicated that he never had any regrets in switching codes.
“After the Olympic Games preparations and getting dropped it was never the end of the road,” he said.
“I joined rugby league and the Cowboys and had no regrets.
“I’m loving every minute of my time here and it is a positive energy,”
Meanwhile, Api Koroisau is ruled out of the Bati side due to his commitments with the NSW Blues in Sunday’s State of the Origin clash.
