Cuvu College, SMC Triumph

Thirteen (13) records were broken at this year’s Nadroga/Navosa Athletics Zone meet, which ended at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, yesterday. Cuvu College maintained its lead to win the boy’s division while Sigatoka Methodist College won the girl’s division.
Eleven (11) schools and 591 athletes were part of the zone meet.
Cuvu College scooped 36 medals while Sigatoka Methodist took home 40 medals.
The award for Best Female athlete was handed to Nadroga Arya College gold medallist, Kelerayani Nava, who won the 200metres and the 400m events.
The Best Male athlete was scooped by Josevata Tuiloma of Sigatoka Methodist College who won gold in the 400m, 800m and the 4x400m.
Nadroga/Navosa Athletics Zone Meet committee member, Ifereimi Naruma said it was an exciting time to see students shine in their respective field of events after a two-year lapse due to the pandemic.
“It was a very successful two-day event and we thank all the heads of schools, teachers, supporters and athletes that made this zone meet successful,” said Naruma.
“We look to preparing our students for the Coca-Cola Games to show other divisions what our province has to offer.”
Medal Tally:
Girls Division: Sigatoka Methodist College – 15 gold, 15 silver, 10 bronze. Sigatoka Valley High School – 10 gold, 5 silver, 10 bronze. Nasikawa Vision College – 6 gold, 10 silver, 7 bronze
Boys Division: Cuvu College – 14 gold, 15 silver, 7 bronze, Sigatoka Methodist College – 11 gold, 5 silver.
