Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete led a Government delegation to attend the funeral of the late Tui Magodro Ratu Simione Navutevute at his village in Bukuya on Wednesday.
The late Tui Magodro was a close friend of the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, and instrumental in pushing for development in the highland tikina (district) of Magodro which resulted in access to clean drinking water, better road access, quality education, and connection to the national electricity grid for his people.
Presenting the Fijian Government’s eulogy, iTaukei Affairs Board Deputy chief executive officer, Josefa Toganivalu said the late Tui Magodro was a true leader who had a heart for his people and ensured Government officials serving in his district were respected and treated well by his people.
He said that the late Ratu Simi had a habit of personally visiting teachers serving in the district school and the medical officers at the health centre to check on their wellbeing. It did not stop there, as visiting civil servants were personally looked after by his household.
