Nine teams participated in the inaugural Indiana Sports Association netball tournament which was held at the National Netball Centre, in Suva, yesterday.
Four teams travelled from the West while five were from the Central division.
Lautoka Indiana Rangers’ team manageress Sheetal Chetty said the tournament was to showcase the talents of Indo-Fijian women in the country.
The Rangers won its first game against Sarava Netters, 7-6.
“It was a good exposure,” she said.
“I think players from outer districts will get some exposure in playing this and interested into coming into national level.
“After high school, there is a bit of gap, this is a good opportunity we are given to bridge it.
“We came with one vision to win, we also wish to have a good game and go home satisfied,” Chetty added.
Rangers captain, Manisha Rishi said: “It’s our first time at Indiana and we feel so proud that we came all the way from Lautoka. “It’s good to see that we have another Indiana association that supports us in sports.”
