Samoan Coach To Take It As It Comes

The presence of Moana Pasifika and the Fijian Drua in this year’s Super Rugby Pacific competition will make the Pacific Nations Cup more competitive.
That was the gist of Manu Samoa head coach Seilala Mapusua’s message during an interview at Albert Park, Suva, yesterday.
“It’s been long overdue but it’s great that it’s here,” he said of the Moana Pasifika and Drua’s Super Rugby participation.
“This is a pathway for the local-based players in the islands. I’m looking forward to watch the Moana Pasifika players play in the PNC.”
Samoa takes on Australia A in their opening match on Saturday at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.
Mapusua confirmed that their Europe-based players are in camp while they are still waiting for their three players who are based in America.
“We are taking things as it comes and hoping that we move up a notch each day.
“Also there is COVID disruptions and it provides opportunities to our players to show what they’ve got.”
For Samoa, the biggest name in the squad in Lyon flanker Jordan Taufua who has played 101 matches for the Crusaders and Moana Pasifika star halfback Ereatara Enari who was the former New Zealand Under-20 captain.
