Fiji, NZ Police Pay Respects to Son, Family of Woman Stabbed in NZ

A delegation from the Fiji Police and New Zealand Police Forces presented their ireguregu to Police Constable Epineri Tunidau and the family.
Constable Tunidau is the son of Laisa Maraia Waka, who was tragically killed in Sockburn, New Zealand, recently.
Police in New Zealand, upon learning that the victim’s son was a Police officer based at the Sigatoka Police Station, initiated its own support systems in fast tracking the arrest of the perpetrator, the facilitation of the pathological services, and assistance in ensuring her body received priority en-route to Fiji.
New Zealand Police Senior Liaison Officer (Pacific), Superintendent Glyn Rowland, accompanied the Fiji Police Force delegation, led by Chief Administration Officer Assistant Commissioner of Police Sakeo Ganivatu, to Nabitu Village, Nakelo, Tailevu, to present the joint ireguregu, on behalf of both Police Forces.
SP Rowland also handed over NZ Police’s assistance to PC Tunidau’s family.
The Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho, also directed all necessary support be provided to PC Tunidau including to the services of the Force Psychologist to help him get through this difficult period.
