Vodafone Backs Oceania Qualifiers

Vodafone Fiji has announced its commitment to sponsor the much-anticipated Oceania Netball World Cup qualifiers this month.
The announcement was made yesterday by Vodafone Fiji chief marketing officer Rajnesh Prasad at the company’s headquarters in Princes Road, Tamavua, in Suva
The sponsorship totaled to $40,000 and it includes sporting equipment and cash funding.
In addition, Vodafone Fiji has also pledged telecommunications partnership for the one-week event.
Prasad said they shared the vision of encouraging and empowering women in sports in Fiji.
“Our sponsorship will ensure that we provide the funding and the appropriate marketing and promotion support needed for the qualifiers,” Prasad said.
“Vodafone Fiji stands committed to supporting the incredible netball community and women’s sport, Vodafone will work together with the body to support the growth of netball further beginning with the facilitation of the Oceania Netball World Cup qualifiers.”
Oceania Netball Federation president Wainikiti Bogidrau acknowledged Vodafone Fiji for the timely sponsorship.
The five teams participating are Fiji, Cook Islands, Tonga, Samoa, and Papua New Guinea.
She said they expected changes to the team that would qualify for the World Cup in South Africa next year given the strength of each team and performance in the March series in Australia.
Only two teams with the most points will qualify for the World Cup. The qualifiers will be held at the Vodafone Arena on July 19 – 23.

- Friday– First game between Samoa and Tonga at 5.30pm; second game between Fiji and PNG;
- Saturday– First game between Fiji and Tonga at 2pm; second game is at 4pm.
- Tongan team arrives on July 10; Samoa July 11 and PNG July 13.
