Naceva District School Now Enjoy Internet Connectivity

Students of Naceva District School will now be able to expand their learning capabilities through internet connectivity.
This is after the school received a Very-Small-Aperture-Terminal(VSAT) system on Wednesday. Minister for Infrastructure, Meteorological Services, Lands and Mineral Resources, Jone Usamate, on behalf of Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, officially handed over a VSAT System to the school.
The VSAT System allows for the transmission/receiving of data, and voice and video signals over satellite communication networks.
The timely donation from the Office of the Prime Minister cost $14,613.18 under the Small Grant Scheme.
Minister Usamate said that the Fijian Government remained stead- fast in ensuring that every Fijian enjoys internet connectivity.
Covid Lessons
Student learning during the COVID-19 pandemic has proven the need to connect the unconnected.
The Fijian Government is working towards ensuring students in the rural communities and maritime islands get to enjoy equal educational benefits as those in the urban centres in terms of using the internet.
Teacher’s Assistant
The VSAT System allows teachers and students to access e-books and other essential educational information needed for classroom learning online.
School manager, Mikaele Jiuwa, thanked the Fijian Government’s assistance to the students and teachers of Naceva District School.
He said that this would benefit the teachers’ mode of teaching and boost students’ interest in learning as this opened up a whole new medium for them and brought them up to par with their urban peers.
As line minister for Infrastructure, Minister Usamate also assessed the school’s solar- system and the access road from Vunisea to Kavala.
