Two separate road incidents yesterday have resulted in fatalities.
One of the incidents claimed the lives of Iliesa Nakarasa Gata and Anaisi Kube in an accident at Votua, Ba around 1.30am.
The other incident took place at Moto Road in Ba after 1.30am and claimed the life of a one-year-old girl.
In the Votua incident, the late Nakarasa Gata and Anaisi Kube were passengers in a vehicle travelling from Ba Town back to Vadravadra Village where the two resided.
Distraught father, Apenisa Gata, said he was still in shock after receiving news that his 22-year-old son died.
“My son and the other victim were related, she was my niece. They were coming back from town; it was the vehicle of one of my relatives in the village. He was driving a private vehicle and he hit the post,” he said.
“He (deceased) was sitting in the front with the seatbelt on; it was a seven-seater vehicle, it was a grey voxy. In the morning the Police came with his clothes to tell me that my son’s body was at the mortuary and I was shocked .”
He was the eldest of four, he attended the Fiji National University in Suva.

The late Iliesa Nakarasa Gata.
Anaisi Kube’s 69-year-old father, Temesi Tuwai, said he believed his late daughter’s six children were overcome with grief when they received news of her death.
Ana wasn’t working; she was supposed to bring their belongings here as they were supposed to be built just behind mine. Now I will look after her six children because their father passed away already,” he said.
He said Ms Kube was the second oldest of his four daughters.
Both families are awaiting the post-mortem before making funeral arrangements.
Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the report was received shortly after 1am which occurred along Kings Road, near Wailailai in Ba.
In the second road incident, Ms Naisoro confirmed the one-year- old victim originally resided at Vatuwaqa in Suva and was travelling in a car with six others returning from a family function in Nalotawa Village.
“The driver, in his 20s, allegedly fell asleep causing their vehicle to veer off the road. The victim died at the scene allegedly as a result of injuries sustained,” Ms Naisoro said.
