Allegations levelled against the Unity Fiji party and its leader will have no effect on SODELPA and its new partnership, says party leader Viliame Gavoka.

This is in response to allegations made by the former Unity Fiji party general secretary, Satish Kumar, claiming lack of accountability and pathetic’ management of party funds by party leader Savenaca Narube.

He claimed that Mr Narube was unable to manage funds of the political party yet he was harping on the management of the economy.

Mr Gavoka remains adament that Unity Fiji is run by “incredible people .”

“The Social Democratic Liberal Party values loyalty, it is something that we see within the leaders running Unity Fiji. They want what is best for the people and so do we.”

“We are solidly built and are stronger than ever. I am adamant to say that we will win this year’s General Election, the partnership between the two parties is what people have always wanted.”

Meanwhile Unity Fiji Leader Mr Narube said the allegations against the party, pending the investigation, was clearly a personal grudge, false, frivolous, mischievous and without credibility.

“He led a small group who disregarded the Board’s decision to defer the annual general meeting by two weeks due to the rise in cases of coronavirus and to allow other branches to mobilise their memberships,” Mr Narube said.

“He was also part of the board’s decision. His behaviour at that meeting was threatening and disrespectful. Soon after, Mr Kumar’s group attempted to hold an illegal annual general meeting where he put himself up as the new president of the party.”

“Mr Kumar was suspended by the Board from both positions for gross insubordination and bringing dis-harmony and disrepute to the party.”

“He resigned from the party 3 months after the failed AGM when an independent investigation was about to begin, which may have led to his expulsion from the party.”
