RKS Teachers and Students Advised to Maintain Discipline

Ratu Kadavulevu School principal Ilaisa Waqalala, teachers and students have been encouraged to maintain discipline and improve the school’s reputation.
The call came from the newly elected president of the Ratu Kadavulevu School Old Boys Association (RKSOB), Alipate Naiorosui.
It followed comments made by the Minister for Education Heritage & Arts Premila Kumar on her first ministerial visit to RKS last week Tuesday. She labelled the school as the only Government school with ‘behavioural issues’
“I would encourage the school principal and his staff to improve the situation at RKS,” Mr Naiorosui said.
Mr Naiorosui said Ms Kumar’s statement ‘is news’ to him.
“I’ve just been appointed recently but as the president of the RKS old scholars’ association this is news to me,” he said.
“I would encourage the students of RKS to maintain a good name for the school.”

Mr Naiorosui added that he would presume that the school’s head, staff and parents and teachers’ association were working on the problem.
“The RKS old boys association fully supports the school principal in his effort to improve the performance of RKS in both academics and sports,” he said
The former chairman of the board of governors from 2005-2015 reiterated that he fully supported the school principal and encouraged students to improve their behaviour.
“For the students, I would encourage them to change their behaviour since there are school rules to be followed so that the school performance is not affected.
“Basically, we (RKSOB) would just like to encourage the students to maintain a good reputation for the school
“Now that we are nearing the school break, I would also like to urge the parents and guardians to take the initiative to sit down with them (students) and talk to them.
“So eventually when they return in term 2, they are better students and individuals of RKS.”
