Savusavu Taxi Driver Dies in Road Accident

What used to be a normal daily routine for a Savusavu family turned tragic yesterday morning.
Feroz Khan still can’t believe that his father, Mohammed Habib Khan, died in a car accident along the Buca Bay road in Savusavu.
The second youngest of three siblings said his 70-year-old father left home after prayer and breakfast to drop a passenger.
“He was heading to Savusavu Town when he failed to negotiate a bend resulting in his vehicle veering off the road,” Mr Khan said.
“My father has been driving a taxi on a casual basis for over 20 years in Savusavu and has never been charged by the Police or Land Transport Authority.”
“My father was originally from Korotari, Labasa, a very humble man who always lived his life to be pleasing to God,” he said.
Meanwhile, Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said a post-mortem examination would be conducted to as- certain the cause of death as the investigation continues.
She said the current road death toll stands at 14 compared to nine for the same period last year.
