After finishing third at the Pacific Nations Cup, Vodafone Flying Fijians captain Waisea Nayacalevu said they have learnt a lot from the competition.

The Fijians blew away a 17-3 lead at halftime to go down 23-20 to Manu Samoa, who became the PNC winners.

Nayacalevu said they need to work on what they have learnt and at the same keep on moving forward.

The Flying Fijians next assignment is the November Tour to Europe where they play Test matches against Ireland, Scotland and the French Barbarians.

This is another opportunity for head coach Vern Cotter to work on players as they prepare towards next year’s Rugby World Cup in France.

How we rate our players: (/10)

  1. Eroni Mawi- Powerful in the scrums but his letdown was the number of silly penalties he gave away, which allowed Samoa back into the game: 4

  8. Albert Tuisue- Always in the thick of things and his strong carries resulted in him scoring the opening try: 6
  9. Frank Lomani- Showed the class he was once renowned for. The confidence is back there and he only needs time to perfect his game: 7
  10. Ben Volavola- Steady at No.10 as he controlled play well: 6
  11. Vinaya Habosi- Needs to improve on his kicking game otherwise he was at his usual best: 6
